We've had the pleasure of conversing with Aaron for a while via the Twitters, but when we found out he had earned a chance to go to Sierra Nevada Beer Camp, we decided everyone should learn more about this home brewer. More about Beer Camp this week....
Name: Aaron Beaulieu
Hometown: Clackamas, Oregon
Favorite Beer: Lately, it’s been Deschutes Red Chair NWPA and Walking Man Black Cherry Stout.
Favorite Beer Haunt: Portland U-Brew, Salem Ale Works, and McMenamins
What was the first craft beer you ever tried? What did you think?: I believe it was either a Widmer Hefeweizen or a Rogue Dead Guy Ale. Whatever it was, I loved it!
Do you homebrew? If yes, favorite homebrew to date: Yes, I homebrew. My favorite homebrew to date was an Imperial IPA with 2.5 pounds of fruit-accented hops - it turned out great!
How’d you hear about pdxbeergeeks? I started following pdxbeergeeks shortly after opening a Twitter account.
What does being a beer geek mean to you? Loving beer is one thing, but making connections with others who love beer and cherishing the craft is another. Being a beer geek to me is all about being a part of a larger community of beer geeks.
If you could change one thing about beer culture in the U.S. what would it be? I would like to see more consistency in craft beer. There are too many mediocre craft beers in the market that I believe could be much better.
What do you love about Portland’s Craft Beer scene? What is there not to love about the beer scene in Portland? I think we as Oregonians have a lot to be grateful for.
Where can we find you on the web? You can find me on Twitter @Pdx_Bros and on Instagram @aaronbeaulieu. I’m also in the process of building a new site dedicated to my adventures in homebrewing and craft beer. Look for it around the early part of 2014.
